Windham Area Interfaith Ministry

Uplifting and uniting our community by providing caring services and resources to meet our neighbors’ needs with dignity and respect.

WAIM (Windham Area Interfaith Ministry) provides basic needs and support to area residents with insufficient income. Our goal is to keep people safely housed, meet basic material needs and connect them to resources that sustain their stability.

Our Programs

Emergency Financial Assistance

WAIM is dedicated to helping our neighbors who are struggling to make ends meet. Emergency financial assistance from WAIM can help with rent or mortgage payments, utility bills, transportation expenses, and other basic needs.

Material Donations

WAIM distributes donated clothing, furniture, appliances, and other household items to people in need in our community for free. Literally, tons of useful items are kept out of local landfills and welcomed into the homes of individuals and families who give them a second life.

WAIM has had hundreds of volunteers each month and over the years that had made it what it is today! Each semester UConn Community Outreach students volunteer through the Community Service Department. Today this wonderful, hard working and fun team came out to the WAIM Community Gardens at Lauter Park to help break down old raised beds and then tackle all the weeds! The large lower half of the garden is being prepped for the installation of more 20x20ft rental plots for the community and this year's growing season! Plots rent for $35 for the season along with application and signed waivers. Growers come from all different backgrounds, sharing stories and growing practices. We require gardeners to use non toxic practices to ensure the safety of the park ecosystem and so families can enjoy healthy produce with no chemicals. Its quite a splendid little community!
